An excellent watch!
I am normally picky about what I watch, because there's just so much out there, I can barely keep up with my obvious interests... so generally a foreign film has to really stand out for me to devote time to watch it. I am very glad I watched this one. Immediately upon starting, I was hooked, because I felt for the lead and what she was going through; but when the movie started with the 17yr old parts, I was worried that it was going to turn into more of a movie geared towards teenagers. But it actually isn't. Just to be clear, she doesn't actually go back in time, nor does she physically reverse in age, etc. Rather, it's like her 28yr old self gets swapped with her 17yr old self. Most films, when this happens, it's a one time trip, and at the end they go back to wherever they started at. In this film, this is not the case as it swings between the two frequently. This film became more serious minded as we watch the struggle she deals with, with the mess that's left behind from each trip. However by the end its really touching and a poignant message about embracing who you are; but also about letting go. It actually makes you think about your own life... what would your 17yr old self say to you now? I have to say, it's an amazing movie, and well worth a watch. I highly recommend!
What was lost found again
Don't we all wish to turn back the clock? This movie is about rediscovering self and what was once lost is found again. Technically not really time travel back to past for me as it only involves changes of memories and mentality since the female MC would become her younger self of 17 years old whenever she ate the special chocolate. However it is about this technicality that really made the plot interesting because it somewhat reminds us that in reality even without these special chocolates, we get to choose what mentality we want to project if we really look into ourselves. Whether we want to choose to believe in ourselves and revisit our lost dreams and passion, knowing in life it is never too late. At one point during the argument between the female MC and her long-time boyfriend whereby the female MC (the young, unafraid version of herself after taken the chocolate) blamed her boyfriend for getting in her way towards her dream and passion while the boyfriend retaliated on this blame, I thought to myself how true it is this scene - we all want to choose to be able to blame another for what has failed in our life when in reality all we can do instead is to pick up the mess ourselves and work towards getting things right. In the movie, it was shown how the female MC took the long route towards picking up herself but the journey was necessary for her to come to this realization - that whether it was her 17 years old self of her 28 years old self, she, alone can make it happen as long as she never give up and get lost in herself. I think this was truly the most meaningful drive home point for me from this movie. To be honest, I was not too keen on the ending except I guess to go along with the theme on 'what was lost found again'.
live your life for you not for others
this movie have a very simple story but it made it into a very good visual lesson about life , self love and life goals. it's a very good an hour and half watch with funny and heart felt moments the main character is so charismatic and relate-able (also very pretty) .it's focused on main plot lines only which is good sense the main character development is done gradually and every well . it's not a romance by any means, but highly recommended
Beautiful movie
Never lose contact with your inner child/voice. This movie beautifully explains what happens if you do so.
Best movie of china A+
The story is very nice. I have watched a handful of movies that are relevant to time travel or any along those lines and all of them have been very good, I expected nothing less from this movie. It is slightly hard to follow the plot but overall is very good. An excellent movie by Zhang Mo. Legit 10/10.
