When Suraj's son passes away, he gets very depressed, takes to alcohol, and gets intimate with a young woman named Kamini, who is an ardent worshiper of Lord Shani (Saturn), and he promises to marry her. When he decides that he likes Radha and Neetu more, he decides to break up with Kamini, who does not take it too well, and kills herself. Suraj returns to his family and does not tell anyone about this incident. Then strange things start occurring in the household, and Suraj blames these on Raj. But this only worsens the situation, and the family, including Raj's voluptuous girlfriend, Sapna, re-locate to Balwant's house. This is where they will find out that the vengeful spirit of Kamini has entrapped them, and they are all to suffer violent deaths - especially on dates that total to eight in combination with Saturday.

  • Nice try, but no cigar...

Raj Rai lives in England with this brother Suraj, his sister-in-law Radha and his cousin Neetu. Relations between Raj and his brother are tense, as the latter blames him for the death of his son. Raj has a unique gift: he can see the spirits of deceased people. One day, he discovers the ghost a mysterious woman is persecuting the family. He also finds out that all the subsequent events are somehow related to the number "8", the number of Shani (Saturn)... Here we have the ingredients for a nice supernatural thriller like the Sixth Sense, that might even have worked. Alas, it doesn't work, and the whole thing becomes a failure. The plot is a mix of various subplots and other wild ideas, and it looks like the script writer couldn't choose which path to follow. Therefore, the story simply doesn't stick together. Now, there is a lot I can buy in movies like this, but there should at least be some internal consistency. We have a dead boy and an angry ghost who has all kinds of reasons to be angry at the family, we have this mysterious number 8, we have a fairly bad love story... But none of these things actually come together. It looks like most of these things were simply added to the mix to add some mystery. A good example of how NOT to write a script. The acting is bad. The only person who deserves respect for his role is Raj Tara, who plays the male protagonist. Obviously, this role was his debut (and as far as I know, it was also his last role), but he should be given credit: he really does his best, and manages to play his role convincingly, naturally and with humour. Unfortunately, that's about it. Gulshan Grover is an actor I generally like a lot, but in this movie he plays with the engagement of a shuffling hospital clerk on Monday morning. Meghna Naidu is good at being voluptuous, but she should stay far away from any real acting. If playing in erotic movies is her specialisation, that's what she should stick to. Padmini Kolhapure and Surbhi Purohit (another debut) give performances that are acceptable at best. At last, the creators of this movie shouldn't have tried following the Bollywood convention of adding song and dance numbers to the movie. It doesn't even remotely fit the story, and neither does the whole love thread trying hard to justify it. Besides, except for one song, the music is pretty bad, just like the rest of the movie. All in all, a major disappointment.

  • Unwatchable b-movie

    sunikarni2013-03-03

Awful production values, boring screenplay, confused and confusing plot etc. All hallmarks of bad cinema are present here. It is not even "so bad it's good". It is just plain bad. Many scenes start with something that hints of horror cinema, then dissolve into something else entirely. It is difficult to sit through the entire movie because nothing much happens. Acting is uniformly b-grade, even though the cast includes Gulshan Grover and couple of other recognizable names. Skip this and watch some Ramsay brothers abomination (pun intended) from the 80s. Much more bearable.

  • One of the worst films I've seen in my life

    julbert712010-12-19

After seeing the high ratings on IMDb I thought I'll order this DVD to watch an Indian horror / ghost film, and I can only hope that this awful B movie is not really a typical example. No idea where the high ratings came from, must have been family and friends of the producer. Summary: Bad script. Bad direction. Bad acting (ALL of them). Cheap sets / "special effects" (where there any??). If you want to see how NOT to act or how NOT to make a film, or you are in the mood to have a good laugh... watch this. Otherwise - stay away, it's a total waste of money and time. If you want to see a far better movie from this genre, but totally different league, watch "Bhoot" from Ram Gopal Varma. Simple sets and special effects, but excellent acting and a gripping story which doesn't leave you bored for 10 seconds.
