Great film: the perfect mix of fun, wit, and social critique.
This film skewers everyone - gentrifiers, estate agents, taste-makers, hipsters, landlords, and that very specific type of blonde beauty, only found in London, who makes a career of looking too good for people to say no to. Melody is toxic and you'll adore her anyways, and her victims are too hip or too hapless to see it coming. A great watch for anyone with a landlord, an empty wallet, or a gag reflex triggered by concept food.
Funny, clever little movie
A bit like a British Cohen brothers if they had to spent too much time in east London and got annoyed with all the people there. Some lovely little scenes and characters and all moves along at a pace. Buring is excellent as 'mad aunty' Melody, just as you would expect. Not all performances quite up to the same standard, which is what stops it being an 8* review. But all in all well worth a watch!
A fairly accurate portrayal
Not sure what exactly in this movie is supposed to make people laugh or even smile, but it does give a fairly accurate portrayal of your typical shallow-water British brat,together with her lack of purpose, direction, values and morals. There's more and more movies being classed as comedies that can only get one depressed, and this is certainly one of them.
