One (2001) Reviews

  • Brilliant-but what's it about?

    DumbBrunette2004-06-23

In all respects, 'One' is a brilliant film. without even saying one word, the actors, Nikki Bridges and Drew Fuller. are able to convey all the emotions their characters are feeling, quite convincingly, I might add. The directing and the music give it a thrilling and highly atmospheric air. There's just one question I have to ask: what the heck? They never really come out and explain the plot, do they? Leaving us, the poor and confused audience, to try and figure it out for ourselves. Basically, before watching this film, ask yourself one question: are you willing to ponder the point of this movie afterwards? Rating: 5 stars.

  • Pretty... confusing and beautiful

I've seen short movies that are more clear, where it's obvious where it's about. "One" is not one of those movies. If you don't want to be left hanging wondering about the theme, then don't watch it. I liked it. The message came across pretty good and I think that the director and writer intentionally did this. You have to think for yourself. Your own meaning behind this movie, your feelings, your ideas. Drew Fuller is great. I only knew him from Charmed and I recently started to collect other stuff from him so I am really looking forward for the rest of the movies of him to see it!

I adored this. A fan of Drew Fullers since Voodoo Academy, I adore his work. His facial expressions tear the heart, and the look in his eyes make your blood still in your veins. The music was definitely an asset to this film, creating the emotions with each string. But again, I was left questioning what happened after. Was the image of Cole when he stood in the center of the street his own ghost? The images of him and Alice dancing made me wonder if they were flashbacks or merely their ghosts? The look on Alex's face breaks the heart, and the simple act of hands is touching and chilling at the same time. TO come so close... but to what end?? Simply? Beautifully done.

  • Finally some positivity!!

    miuruwije2012-09-01

Was watching this movie and was thinking of reviewing it,but had to do it just in between. This movie spoke to me in so many ways that I am having difficulty in writing them down, but I'll give it my best shot. For a long while I have been feeling well negativity.Even though I knew it was me and myself who was causing this,I could not comprehend this thought.Feelings of restlessness and pain just kept lingering in my mind.Nothing seemed to be going right. And then there was this movie.I don't want to write anything about this movie other than to pass on the message to anyone in any kind of negative mindset to just watch this movie once, for goodness sake at least.Empty your mind, let yourself be engaged and engrossed in the moment(which I guess what the people involved in this movie wanted)and just try to find meaning of anything and everything you feel you are searching. It helped me and I am sure it can help you.Peace!! :D

  • The Silent Emotions Tells All

    puddle_jumper2006-07-18

Short but a powerful movie of the fates that control our lives. In the beginning of the movie, we're introduced to a normal couple who seem to be upset. But as the movie rolls by, the simplicity turns into more when the audience are suddenly thrown into a wave of seemingly confusing sequences but the end is powerful and leaves a thought provoking moment. The beauty of the movie not only lies in the fluid and emotional music, but the fact that no words were uttered during the entire movie. The soft everyday noises of life only builds to the impact of the finale. Even the editing matches smoothly with the soundtrack. The actors (Nikki Bridges and Drew Fuller) do extremely well in conveying their unspoken emotions and having the audience believe in their love. What makes the movie wonderful is that unlike others, it doesn't lay out the ending on a silver platter for us to view. In fact, it allows us our own power of interpretation.
